Beauty Tips - Detangling The Hair Styling Product Confusion

Back in the day you didn’t have much of a choice when it came to hair styles, sure they were many types of hair styles back then but if you had for instance straight hair you could only do so much, and get a hair style that suited straight hair. However today you have almost endless possibilities, if you have straight hair you can change it to wavy or curly hair and get a curly hairstyle. This means that you can change the way your hair looks any number of times. With the styling products available on the market today you are spoilt for choice, however selecting the right product is imperative. Sifting through the nearly hundreds of products can be a task. This guide should help you sort through the various commercial product categories.

Which hair styling products do you use? You have your choice of probably hundreds of different kinds of products, not to mention brands. It can be a mass of confusion just trying to figure out which styling products you should be using for your hair. When you go to the store, no matter what kind of store it is, you will notice that hair care products are endless, or so it seems.

Can you remember when hair spray was just hair spray? It seemed you had your choice of two strengths of hold. Now, you have your choice of different types of hair sprays, mousse, and gels. You have products that will make your hair literally stand on end! You also have your choice of products that will take the frizz right of your hair. Then, on the opposite end of the spectrum, if you have straight hair but want it curly, why not choose a curl booster gel or spray? Or go the other way and straighten that curly hair?

There are so many more options of hair styles with the hair styling products and hair accessories available to us. Well, to really get down to the “root” of the styling product chaos, you have to ask yourself a few questions, you have to find out what your real goal is with your styling products.

So, ask yourself some questions.

What kind of hold do I want? Do I want a light spray, that is non-sticky, minimal hold or do I need a super hold that will not budge even if the wind is blowing 50 miles per hour outside or you go down the highway in a convertible? If it is the latter, good luck!

Will you use many products to achieve your styling goal or do you just want one? You should think to yourself, am I trying to straighten my hair? Am I trying to make it curly? Do I want the product to protect my hair from the weather elements? Do I need it to work well with my hair coloring? What formula do I need? Do I need a gel? Do I need a spray? Do I need something solid?

If you thought you were done, think again, we are just hitting the top of iceberg in styling products. You can choose a variety of products for different types of hair achievements. For example, use a spray, gel, or mousse, if you are trying to add body or volume. If you want to create texture within your hair or make the current texture prominent, you will want to use pomade, balm, wax, or creams.

Regardless of how you want to style your hair, you no longer have to accept your hair for what it is. Using hair accessories and styling products, you can pretty much achieve any look you are going for!

Help answer the question about curly hair style

What is the best way to style curly hair for men to prevent hair loss?
I have quite thick curly black hair and over the past year I've noticed it getting a little thinner around the front and back. This is mostly apparent when I wear my hair down (like Tom Welling), however when I've kept it up (which looks something like an afro) i've noticed less hair loss.

I don't know if there's a link between wearing your hair up and preventing more hair loss this way or not, but I would love to find out what the best hair-maintenance styles for men with curly hair are in light of the above

Here are some frizz tips for you!
* A good haircut is key (find an expert here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons)
* Sleep on a satin pillowcase
* Don't shampoo every day
* Comb conditioner through hair in the shower
* Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber instead
* Air dry or use a diffuser
* Use styling products suited for your hair type (http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types)
* NEVER use a brush
* Don't touch your hair
* A pomade is great for mid-day touchups

you could change it by straightening.
or you could get a hair waving iron.

There are some curl enhancer mousse foams or curl creams that you just scrunch into your hair and blowdry it out, still scrunching to get that style.

And tadaaah!

It works best if you already have a natural curl already in your hair. if not, try using a curling iorn first, then the curl mousse and blowdryer

I've seen TLC's what not to wear and Nick the hair stylish always uses that stuff

my friend has curly hair and she cut hers like sarah jessica parker when she had it short and it looked super cute, u can try that look

I think you could but you woudl have to straighten the fringe part. (bangs)
Otherwise, it could get a bit out of control.
If you have a picture of it, definately take it in to show a hairdresser, or even two pictures if you can't find one exactly right.
Good luck! and you would definately need product. :]

There is a product called FLat Out (i think it's by KMS, only at salons) that is fantastic. My sister has VERY curly hair (i ended up with boring straight) and we have used this on her. Both the shampoo and the taming serum. she washed conditioned, and then we blow dried it very very straight, flat ironed it and then added a anti-friz serum. After about an hour of it setting straight, we rolled it in large rollers and sprayed a setting spray. About 4 hours later, we unrolled, frizz eased again and it looked FAB!!! Good Luck!

I remember this guy in school had curly hair. He wore it really short on the sides and the curl was just on the top of his head. I always thought it looked really nice.
