Hair Styles for Thinning Hair: What are My Options?

Some styles will emphasise thinning hair and others may make the situation worse or appear worse than it really is. In women for instance pulling hair back tightly into a pony tail can cause trauma to already weakened hair roots. The hair is literally being pulled out. Yet it is a style adopted by some women whose hair is thinner than it used to be in an attempt to hide a scalp which now shows through. Or perhaps it is just the style they have had for a while. Also long hair styles can emphasise thin hair so go for a short , closer to the head cut. This may seem like a contradiction – cutting off hair because you are loosing hair, but it really does make a difference as does a more layered look.

Hair dressers will tell you to lay off the hair dryers or at least use them only on the lowest settings. They will also be able to tell you about the various volumising products that are now available. Mousses should be applied to the roots so that hair is lifted up. Working from the roots spread the product away from the scalp. Then cool blow dry, finger dry or scrunch. Volumising sprays should be applied to strands of hair that have been lifted up. Spray from the roots upward when the hair is almost dry. The spray will coat the individuals hairs and make them seem thicker.

As for men there is no need to let hair loss lower your self esteem. And as for sexual attractiveness – Whatever men may think women everywhere know that what matters about a man isn’t a matter of how much hair he has on his head. Think or Julius Caesar or Napoleon. And, speaking as one who knows, I would rather see a man with an honest bald head, than a comb over or even worse a toupee, any day. As for implants they can end up looking like cornrow dollies scalps. Hair just doesn’t grow like that. A popular option is to grow hair on the face – a beard or moustache to take the attention away from the top of the head. Or, if you are so inclined, how about a neat pony tail, not too tight, or even a braid. Notice that word ‘neat’ by the way. It also stands for clean and tidy. Women find clean hair attractive, wherever it is on the head. And a man who is confident in his own abilities is attractive.

The short, clean cut is a good one. It is easy to take care of as well. Some people like to lighten their hair. The contrast between scalp and hair is diminished and so makes thinning hair less noticeable. A more radical alternative for men is to shave it all off. People will have no way of knowing that you haven’t chosen to go bald, this is now becoming one of the most popular hair styles for balding men. Think of Crystal Maze host Richard O’Brien. He shaved his head years ago for a part and has stayed that way. Perhaps even he doesn’t know how much hair he would now have if he let it grow.

With some job interviews coming up, I got my color done and a trim last night. But… she stacked it too much in the back. I can’t stand how long the hair at the bottom is, think it looks pretty crappy. Idk why she did that…

Help answer the question about short hair style

How can i style short hair?
I have had long hair my whole life and i just got in cut short. Right at my jawline. I dunno how to style short hair. I have a little bit of a wave so like half of my hair waves to one side and the other half is straight. I use a straight iron but it don't work. So any ideas can help alot.

I totally agree. It looks great but it would look better with a closer back. Great color too.

You just need the back tapered shorter & closer (tighter, like buzzed a little). It looks beautiful!!!

He Kris,

Don’t be sad about your hair. I have had the same disaster myself a few years ago. Much too short in the back, while in the front it was long, just like yours. I decided to cut it short for the whole, short bangs, a little on the ears. And I loved it! Now it is almost two years ago, and I still wear it short. So, don’t be afraid, just do like me, but it is up to you of course. By the way, i like your videos and talks. Greetings from Tjiske.

-Volumizing hairspray
-Eat healthier
-Change the Shampoo your using
-Wash out conditioner from hair properly
-Brush Gentil
-Don't scrub your hair too hard when washing w/ shampoo
-Towel dry gently

Bangs will make your hair even thinner

You can curl it using gel by scrunching it then blow dry it on the COOL setting

Caramel and red highlights would probably compliment you well.

definitely get layers — that will make your hair appear thicker and more full.
just let the stylist know how long you want the longest layer to be that way it won't get cut too short.
highlights would make your hair appear to have more depth too.

good luck:]

Well to be honest it sounds like the ends are damaged if its THAT puffy. Get a couple inches taken off of the end and that can help with some the frizz because you will be getting rid of damaged hair. I know its hard to separate with your hair, but trust me if you cut off the split ends and damaged hair your hair will feel much smoother and will grow longer since it won't be breaking off all the time. If you have overly thick hair get it razored thinner. It will make it more manageable and you can get it razored in a cute style. You can also start using leave in conditioners and frizz control products to reduces the bigness. Test a few out and find one that works well with your hair. If you want to actually get a new style go ask a hair stylist. They always have amazing suggestions I mean come on thats what they do! They can recommend shapes and things that will sit well on your face.

As for people teasing you… it happens to us all. I think everyone was teased in school at least once in their life. You can block it out, but yeah it still stings a little. I think though that you should only change your hair if YOU are unhappy with it. Don't do it for other people. Good luck to you!

i'd suggest a women's volumising shampoo – it'll thivken your hair up a bit at least.

as for the oil all i can recommend is looking up specialist products – i know you're not alone in having oily hair so there should definately be something to help

gel will just make thin hair look thinner – wax maybe??

If your hair is thick, you may want to try to learn how to use a straightener. It's not difficult at all.. you can't mess up. Just run it through parts of your hair until it looks good to you.
As for Kingone Wang's hair, it's pretty simple. You could just take some volumizing mousse (at any store) and run it through your hair while it's wet. Blow dry with the dryer facing upwards into your hair and then follow wth the straightener. Hope I could help :]
