Healthy Diet Tips for Healthy Hair
By
One of the most productive things you can do for healthy hair is to have a diet that is rich in foods needed for beautiful locks. Shiny, full bodied hair is a consequence of eating foods that provide strength and vitality to the roots. If you will add these simple food choices to your diet each day, you are sure to have movie star appeal and celebrity hair in a matter of weeks.
Water – The Key Ingredient
The normal person has almost a fourth of their water in the roots of their hair. Water adds softness and flexibility to the hair shaft. When you feel thirsty, your body is already dehydrated and the body will take the fluid from less necessary parts like the hair to supply the vital organs. Make drinking water a routine part of your day and take a full bottle with you at all times to keep the levels in a good zone.
Protein Rich Diet
Most of the shampoos and products designed for hair contain protein and this should be an indicator of how important it is for healthy hair. While the protein added to the outside of the hair shaft is good, it is better for the protein to come from the inside out as the roots are being treated. The protein will stop the hair from having split ends and from breaking easily. Fish, cheese, cereal, milk, and meat are good sources of protein.
Minerals Enrich Hair
Hair needs minerals like iron, zinc, and copper. The iron rich foods like red meat and vegetables that are dark green carry iron. Without iron, the hair will not be able to utilize oxygen as it should for hair strength. Zinc comes from seafood and meat. Copper will add to the luster and enhance the color of hair. This can be found in nuts, meat, seeds, liver, and fresh vegetable choices.
Vitamins Help Growth
Vitamins help the hair grow as it should and can be obtained through carrots and other vegetables. Vitamin A creates a healthy scalp and provides a positive result for your skin. Vitamins C and B will again help with hair growth and also bring out a beautiful color to your hair. Fruits, cereals, vegetables, milk, bread, and eggs are rich in Vitamins C and B.
Don’t Forget Exercise
Above all, exercise will do the most to provide healthy hair. The exercise will produce better blood flow to the scalp and thus bring all the nutrients to where it is needed most. When the scalp is healthy, the hair shows it.

Normal hair growth is 1/2 inch per month. You can keep your hair healthy and increase growth to 3/4 inch per month by:
taking vitamins (yes, prenatal are great)
scalp massage
wear you hair up (it protects it from the environment)
get it trimmed on a regular basis (no trims lead to ratty ends and lots of splitting/breakage)
use a satin pillowcase
use a boar bristle brush
do final rinse with distilled water
do not shampoo daily – shampoo only when necessary
avoid metal hair accessories
do not brush or comb hair when damp
don't allow your hair to get caught under you purse strap, coat collars, etc.
if it is windy, restrain your hair (prevents knotting which leads to breaking and splitting)
apply shampoo only to scalp and roots, when you rinse, it will clean balance of hair without drying it out -never pile your hair on your head when shampooing leave it hang
always condition but only apply to hair length…not scalp or roots (ears down is best)
leave in conditioners provide the most protection
after washing you hair, wrap in towel but do not rub hair with towel
if possible, avoid heat appliances: blow dryer, flat irons, etc. – if not, limit exposure
apply extra virgin olive oil to hair…just put a small drop on your hands, rub hands together and then apply to ends only
follow a healthy diet involving all food groups

Choose your foods, products and supplements wisely, stuff that won't kill you and exercise.
This morning I showered with soaps and conditioners that have no parabens and are all natural.
For lunch, I just recently ate chopped romaine lettuce, chopped raw broccoli, cauliflower and carrots with teriyaki chicken, cubed and tossed with sesame dressing and a side of sunflower bread slices.
To drink: green tea, pomagranite, and hibiscus organic iced tea with no sugar added.
Everything you can get on your own at the produce and meat section. Stay away from packaged food isles. If you want something more specialized, we have the Internet. You can order through sites like David Wolf foods.
I went out and jogged with the dog for 20 minutes about an hour later, because I didn't have time to do my weights, today.
What I'm trying to say is that you choose foods that are closest to their natural state, stay away from packaged foods, eat whole foods and keep active.
I supplement with healthy Omegas, anti oxidants, and whole food vitamin/minerals. I use skin, hair and body care that has no chemicals that can harm you.
Nothing I eat is cheap. Nothing I use is cheap. But, I only have one life, don't I?

Drink 10-12 glasses of water daily and have a high protein diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Since iron-deficiency anemia can also cause hair loss, make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet that includes a daily serving or two of iron-rich foods. Check out
