I suggest micro braids because they can be in for a long time. depending how tight, they could break your hair. But if you care for it well (moisturizing, etc) it shouldn't be too bad.

@kookie2100i...when i say bra strap length that means the part of my bra where i connect it together. I strongly believe i will be waistlength in less than 3 years lol..but my main objective is mid-back length. You're right, when you're natural, your hair doesnt fall out that much and when you're relaxed it sort of does. I just make sure im eating right and taking my multivitamins to stop that from happening. Any ways you shed 100 strands of hair a day anyways regardless natural or relaxed.

Ok, well I'm getting box braids done tomorrow and I've had them done in the past.
Since your doing it yourself, it depends...I have mine done by a professional and it can range from 6 hours (usually the minimum) to even 12. Depends on how much hair and how small or big your braid them.

@emogenet...Thank you!! Since you're natural right now, your hair should be very strong and thick. Once you relax it, people will think you're wearing a weave because your hair is gonna look very healthy. If you want to keep it healthy and at its best, just make sure you wash it once a week, moisturize and seal twice a day, protect the ends and get rid of any split ends, deep conditioning will be your best friend. Protein is also a must. Remember to stretch relaxers! Congrats on your relaxer!
